The Owasso senior programs are funded by two organizations. The Owasso Golden Agers and the Owasso Senior Citizens Foundation. Each of these organizations is governed by its own board made up of senior citizens and local business or community leaders.
The OGA is the service arm of the senior program. They provide support, both financially and through volunteers for the programs offered at the center, which includes a transportation program for seniors. Grants have been obtained by staff to help off set the cost of operating and replacing old equipment. OGA also receives a transportation grant that reimburses the city for the expenses of the fuel, driver’s salary and insurance on the van that operates to transport seniors.
The Owasso Senior Citizens Foundation is a tax exempt (501c-3) organization whose primary purpose is to receive and manage a corpus of funds to assure that viable Owasso senior programs are not totally dependent of governmental funding.
