The Chamber holds a variety of special events throughout the year, which nurtures the spirit and pride of our community. The president of the Owasso Chamber is Gary Akin. Gary became the Chamber’s first full-time executive in 1995. He has been active in the Owasso Community for nearly 40 years. In 1997, Gary was named Executive of the year by the Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives.
The Owasso Chamber staff works hard for Chamber members and the Owasso community everyday. The Chamber office is open Monday – Friday from 8:00a.m. – 5:00p.m. They are closed during the lunch hour. You are encouraged to stop by the office at 315 South Cedar and get acquainted with President Akin and the rest of the Chamber staff.

The Owasso Chamber of Commerce is an organization of business people and concerned citizens working in a cooperative effort to promote an environment that creates business, economic success and enhances Owasso’s position as Oklahoma’s premier community. Adopted 11-23-96
Gary Akin was officially hired as President of the Owasso Chamber of Commerce in the summer of 1995. Prior to that he worked for First Bank of Owasso for 19 years. While at the bank he was heavily involved with the Chamber, even serving as Chairman in 1992. President Akin received his IOM from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute program in 2004. He has been very involved in OCCE (Oklahoma Chamber of Commerce Executives) and is a well-respected leader throughout the state. He has led many board retreats, taught classes and mentored several other chamber leaders throughout his career. He has served on the State Chamber Board of Directors and has been very involved with the OneVoice Regional Coalition since it's inception. Locally, Gary has had a hand in several aspects of the Owasso Community. This includes OEF (Owasso Education Foundation), OEDA (Owasso Economic Development Authority), Owasso Character Council, and the Owasso Rotary Club. In 2015, he was recognized by the Character Council for the trait of Availability. In 2016, he received the Tulsa Regional Chamber's Award for Regional Excellence, for his active role in the OneVoice Coalition.
Gary has been married to his wife Fayrene for 41 years. Together they have two children that graduated from Owasso Public Schools and went on to marry other Owasso graduates. All 4 of their "kids" are OSU alum. Aaron and Laura have one daughter, Emily who is 8. Raina and Benjamin have a one year old son, Zachary. Gary and Fayrene are very proud grandparents.
Fayrene Akin has been the Office Manager for the Owasso Chamber since 2000. Like her husband, she had a career in banking before taking time off to start a family. Eventually, she was asked to do some work for the chamber while going through staff turn-over and she's been here ever since. Fayrene handles all of the billing for the chamber. If it has to do with money, she's your go-to person. She is also the one that keeps everything organized. She oversees most of the chamber's events and coordinates volunteers for everything. Fayrene is also responsible for much of the work that goes in to the Lifestyle Owasso Magazine each year.
Fayrene has been married to Gary for 41 years. Together they have two children that graduated from Owasso Public Schools and went on to marry other Owasso graduates. Shala Bible began her chamber career in 2014. Before coming to the chamber she worked for Owasso Community Resources. Prior to that, she worked several years in the corporate world. Shala handles all of the technological aspects of the chamber. She is the one responsible for launching the chamber's new database in 2015, followed by a new website in 2016. Shala handles the chamber's email marketing, social media, new member onboarding, as well as the technology at chamber events. She serves as the secretary of the Chamber Board of Directors and the Ambassador Group. She assists President Akin in running the Leadership Owasso Program. She also brought back Business over Breakfast/After Hours and started the Shop Small Owasso program in 2015. Shala completed OCCE's CMI program in 2014. She is in her 4th year with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute Program. She will graduate with her IOM in January.
Shala is the mother of 4 boys. Her oldest son, RJ is 22 and in the United States Air Force. Brayden is 19 and currently lives in Texas. Aidan (14) and Elijah (12) keep their mom very busy with their activities, which include Owasso Band, Drama, Soccer, Lacrosse and activities through Rejoice Church.
Madeline Brown began in internship at the Chamber during her senior year of high school.
